Our Logo

bulldog pride alumni association logo

The logo of the Bulldog Pride Alumni Association (BPAA) depicts the mascot of Old Rochester Regional High School, a white bulldog, set against the school colors of black and red.

Mascot Representation

Set at the center, the bulldog symbolizes tenacity, strength, and unwavering determination. While fierce in competition, the bulldog is gentle, friendly and loyal, embodying affectionate companionship rather than aggressive strength. Historically, the ORR bulldog has always appeared as white.

Symbolism & Representation

The circular motif symbolizes continuity and the alumni experience: an alum is forever a part of the school. The logo features three circles: (1) the first circle incorporates the name of the association; (2) the second circle includes the bulldog and (3) the third is the bulldog’s collar. These three circles represent the tri-town community that ORR serves. The name “Bulldog Pride Alumni Association”, includes the letter “O” three times, also representing the three towns.

Design

The font was chosen to evoke boldness and fortitude. The name of the association is written in capital letters meant to elicit self-assertion and an emphasis on school pride. The bulldog‘s gaze looks to the east, towards the dawn of new experiences and opportunities fostered by the alumni and the association that represents them. The bulldog is not entirely contained within the inner circle, symbolizing both the student’s individuality and the emergence of the student into an alum.

About the Artist

The logo was designed by Matt Thomas ‘88 in 2023, inspired by his own design which he created for the renovation of the school’s gymnasium in 1987. This design was painted at center court and remained there for nearly two decades. Matt volunteered to offer his design services and generously donated his time and expertise in the creation of the BPAA’s logo.
